The Brisbane Tigers are excited to announce the appointment of Rhett Tronc as the Head Coach of the BMD Premiership squad. Tronc brings extensive experience, and a robust skill set that aligns well with the Club’s vision and growth of the Women’s programs.
Tronc has a proven track record in high-performance coaching and has held key roles across several clubs, including recent positions with the Redcliffe Dolphins and Norths Devils in the Hostplus Cup.
His time with the Norths Devils was particularly impactful, contributing to their 2021 and 2022 premiership wins and establishing a strong team culture. His coaching style is both motivational and strategic, focusing on developing players’ technical, tactical, and mental skills.
Tronc said that working with Rohan Smith and the Norths Devils coaching team has been a highlight in his coaching career.
“The combined expertise of the coaches, brilliant support staff, and some truly exceptional players—both on and off the field—created an environment that fostered success and personal growth,” Tronc said.
“Together, we achieved some remarkable results, and those experiences continue to shape my approach to building strong, cohesive teams and nurturing talent.”
Tronc said he has a long-standing connection with the Tigers, having coached the Club’s Mal Meninga side in 2017, and is excited to be in a position to give back.
“I see this as a unique opportunity not only for the playing group to excel but also for their personal growth, both on and off the field. Bringing my experience into the women’s program to help shape a pathway that fosters their full potential is incredibly motivating,” Tronc said.
“I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead and building a program that supports individual development and team success at every level.”
