The Melbourne Storm have confirmed three new signings for their top 30 squad, while releasing fullback Scott Drinkwater to the North Queensland Cowboys.

Melbourne have signed Tongan international Solomone Kata and Gold Coast Titans forward Max King, and promoted young hooker Harry Grant to the club’s top squad.

Gold Coast Titans forward Max King’s switch to the Melbourne Storm appears to be back on again.

Although neither club has yet made an annoucement, the 22-year-old’s switch is expected to be confirmed on Monday.

Titans owner Darryl Kelly is believed to be gutted to see King leave but the club will not stand in his way.

“Maxy was an awesome bloke to have around. He’s got a great opportunity with Melbourne if that’s all gone through,” said veteran winger Anthony Don.

“I wish Maxy the best of luck. He’s such a good guy to have around and he’s got a great opportunity.”

Meanwhile, St George Illawarra have announced Storm prop Patrick Kaufusi will join the Dragons for the remainder of the season.

The Tongan international and former Queensland under 20s representative has played 25 NRL games in stints with North Queensland and Melbourne.

Kaufusi played 22 games for the Cowboys in 2015-17 before a season-ending foot injury derailed his final season at the club, where he played the first nine rounds. He joined the Storm in 2018 where he has featured three times.
