Tigers Finalise Senior Coaching Roles
Easts Tigers have finalised their 2016 coaching roster with the appointment of Darren Smith and Mark Shipway as the assistant coaches for the 2016 season.
Smith coached the Tigers from 2008-2009 before taking on senior roles with the Souths-Logan Magpies. A former Club captain, Smith played 99 games with the Tigers; 290 NRL games with the Canterbury Bulldogs and the Brisbane Broncos; and 30 games with St Helens. Smith brings a wealth of …rugby league experience and knowledge to the Club.
Smith will be joined by our 2015 defensive coach Mark Shipway. Shipway coached the 2015 Queensland Rangers who defeated the NSW Massey Cup representative team and has impressed during his short time with the Tigers.
2015 BRL A Grade coach Jason Di Lizio will continue in this role and will again be assisted by Joe Taylor. Di Lizio took the young A Grade side to a whisker of making the 2015 grand final, when they were beaten by Wynnum Manly Redland City Seagulls in extra time.
Ian Gough has been appointed as FOGS Colts for the 2016 season. Gough has been involved in the Club’s junior representative program over the past few seasons and has also coached numerous Brisbane JRL Poinsettia’s representative sides. Gough will be assisted by former Easts Tigers captain and Queensland Cup coach Gavin Payne.
