Intrust Super Cup Activate! Queensland Country Week was a cracker. The 14 Cup teams travelled to seven locations across the state to take part in clinics and play and the crowds were top-notch.
Central Queensland Capras fullback Blake Moore was phenomenal during his side’s first win of the season, earning himself the Hastings Deering Player of the Match gong and skipper honours for the Round 14 Team of the Week.
Each round, Queensland Rugby League recognises the 17 best performers and name the Intrust Super Cup Team of the Week. These team selections are based not only on statistical data, but also take on board live and broadcast viewings of the games, with the standout performer of the week named captain.
Round 14 Team of the Week
1. Blake Moore – Central Queensland Capras (C)
The Capras fullback was unstoppable during his team’s first win in 861 days. Moore scored one try, kicked two from three conversion attempts, kicked one penalty goal, had one line break assist, one try assist and two tackle breaks. Northern Pride’s Grant Anderson also put in a stellar showing in Round 14.
2. Jonathon Reuben – Norths Devils
The Devils try-scoring machine, during his 100th Cup game, scored two tries, clocked 95 run metres and had three tackle breaks. Reuben’s first try in the 25th minute came from nothing – he had little sideline to work with, but he placed a deft kick into the in-goal and was too fast for the defence.
3. Treymain Spry – Tweed Seagulls
The Seagulls centre bagged himself a hat-trick during his team’s 40-18 win over Sunshine Coast Falcons in Murgon. He also clocked 136 run metres, had three line breaks, 10 tackle breaks and had a 100 per cent tackle efficiency, making nine tackles. “I think it was Treymain’s best performance of the season and our plan to give him early ball and let him create his own opportunities worked well,” Seagulls coach Ben Woolf said after the game. “He was very classy on the right edge. He’s a very good attacking player and we utilised him better than we had been.”
4. Bacho Salam – Townsville Blackhawks
Salam was busy for the Blackhawks during his 63 minutes on the field. The solid centre scored one try, had two try assists, clocked 122 run metres, had two line breaks, one line break assist, one tackle break and made 18 tackles.
5. Solo Wane – PNG Hunters
The Hunters winger was unstoppable during his side’s 34-22 win over Northern Pride in Atherton. Wane scored a hat-trick of tries, clocked a whopping 225 run metres, and had three line breaks and nine tackle breaks.
6. Connor Broadhurst – Norths Devils
A consistent high performer for the Devils, Broadhurst was phenomenal for his side during Activate! Queensland Country Week round in Dysart. Broadhurst – who moved into the centres later in the game to cover for an injured Tony Tumusa – scored one try, kicked two from two conversions, clocked 172 run metres, and had two line breaks, one line break assist, one try assist, five tackle breaks and made 21 tackles with a 100 per cent tackle efficiency.
7. Jack Ahearn – Norths Devils
The Devils skipper was on fire in Round 14. Ahearn scored one try, clocked 110 run metres, had two line breaks, one try assist and three tackle breaks. Special mentions to Brisbane Tigers playmaker Darren Nicholls and PNG Hunters weapon Charlie Simon, who were both also impressive during Round 14.
8. Lachlan Timm – Redcliffe Dolphins
The Dolphins prop made the most tackles and most run metres for his side during their tight 26-22 win over Ipswich Jets in Quilpie. Timm made a huge 40 tackles, with a 97.6 per cent tackle efficiency, and clocked 216 run metres. What an outing.
9. Brent Woolf – Tweed Seagulls
The Seagulls hooker, during his 43 minutes on the field, scored one try, clocked 80 run metres, had one line break, one tackle break and had a 94.4 per cent tackle efficiency, making 17 tackles. Townsville Blackhawks hooker Josh Chudleigh was also impressive in Round 14 with his involvements, making 45 tackles.
10. Nat Neale – Ipswich Jets
Cut and paste. The Jets enforcer was his consistent best in Round 14 at Quilpie, earning himself yet another run in Team of the Week. Neale scored one try, made 136 run metres, including 49 post-contact, had one line break, five tackle breaks and made a huge 39 tackles.
11. Dylan Kelly – Burleigh Bears
The Bears backrower put in a strong effort for his side as they brought down the high-flying Wynnum Manly Seagulls in a close game in Chinchilla. During the game, Kelly ran for 113 metres from 15 runs, including 63 post contact. Kelly also made 17 tackles and produced a try assist, a line break assist and two tackle breaks.
12. Preston Riki – Redcliffe Dolphins
The Dolphins second rower scored two tries in Quilpie, clocked 102 run metres, had two line breaks, four tackle breaks and had a 96.7 per cent tackle efficiency, making 29 tackles. The Capras’ Nixon Putt was also impressive in Round 14.
13. Tyler Coburn – Ipswich Jets
The Jets lock, during his 70 minutes on the field, scored one try, ran 123 metres, had one line break, two tackle breaks and made 30 tackles. Special mentions to Brisbane Tigers No.13 Bennett Leslie and Souths Logan Magpies’ Rory Ferguson, who were both also impressive, with Ferguson in the top three for tackles made and metres run for his side.
14. Oliver Pascoe – Brisbane Tigers
Pascoe was an impact player for the Tigers in Round 14. During his 50 minutes on the field, Pascoe scored two tries, ran 89 metres, had two line breaks, one line break assist, six tackle breaks and made 25 tackles.
15. Andre Niko – Burleigh Bears
The Burleigh winger was dangerous in attack during his side’s clash with Wynnum Manly in Chinchilla. Niko scored two tries, clocked 143 run metres, had four line breaks, one try assist and six tackle breaks.
16. Delouise Hoeter – Wynnum Manly Seagulls
The Wynnum Manly centre was classy on and off the field during Activate! Queensland Country Week. Hoeter was aggressive in attack, scoring one try, clocking 118 run metres, and he had one line break and eight tackle breaks. Hoeter also mixed and mingled with young fans at the field after the game.
17. Ezra Mam – Souths Logan Magpies
The young Magpies five-eighth excelled in Richmond. Mam scored two tries, had one try assist, clocked 124 run metres, had one line break, one line break assist and five tackle breaks, and also made 24 tackles. His two tries took his try-scoring tally to a remarkable five tries from six games.
