Suzuki Brisbane Tigers 42 def Sunshine Coast Falcons 16
Suzuki Brisbane Tigers coach Mark Gliddon said it was a very pleasing effort to defeat the Sunshine Coast Falcons in their Round 8 top four clash.
“The second half was a bit of a dog fight but we hung in there and we got the victory” Gliddon said.
The Tigers ran away with the game 42-16 after a dominant first half performance completing at 94% at Totally Workwear Stadium.
Five-eighth Jonah Pezet bagged a double in the 9th and 15th minute of the game, before forward Joshua Colls also scored a double in the 74th and 77th minute of the game.
Captain Eli Daunt said of Pezet, “he’s a great footballer and loud on the park. He got us on the front foot (early in the match)”.
It was a shock reaction to Joshua Colls scoring a double, with Daunt stating “Collsy doesn’t get many meatpies apart from the servo, so he would be happy to get them”.
“There must have been pies behind the try-line for Collsy to bag a double”, said a shocked Coach Gliddon.
Zac Croft, Jordan Penquitt and Ronald Philitoga were the other try-scorers for the Tigers, while halfback Daniel Atkinson successfully converted 6/7 tries.
While the Tigers now sit second on the ladder, Coach Gliddon is purely focused on the 3rd place Townsville Blackhawks this weekend for their round 9 clash.
“It’s going to be a tough road-trip up to Blackhawks territory, they’re definitely a top-four side. We have a couple busted from today but certainly looking forward to the challenge” said Gliddon.
The Tigers will travel to Townsville for their Round 9 match against the Blackhawks – Saturday 19th June, 2:00pm.
