The Brisbane Tigers can confirm that the 2025 Hostplus Cup season was Matt Church’s last season as the Head Coach.
Church joined the Tigers ahead of the 2023 season, bringing with him valuable experience from his Head Coach role at the PNG Hunters. Over his three seasons at the helm, he guided the Tigers to their first Premiership since 1991.
While the results this season are not what had been hoped, during his time at the Brisbane Tigers, Church has demonstrated great professionalism and dedication to our club and our players for the past 3 years.
Beyond results, Church played an instrumental role in player development, with several Tigers earning NRL opportunities during his tenure. His ability to mentor young talent while balancing the demands of a competitive Hostplus Cup season has been a defining feature of his time at the club.
Brisbane Tigers CEO Mitch Cook thanked Church for his service and the standards he set during his three years at the club.
“Matt made a significant impact during his time at the Tigers, highlighted by leading us to the 2023 Premiership. His commitment to player development and the standards he set will leave a lasting mark on the club. We thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future.”
– Mitch Cook, CEO, Brisbane Tigers
The club will provide an update on the coaching structure for the 2026 season in due course.
The Brisbane Tigers thanks Church for his service to the club and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
