The Brisbane Tigers delivered a powerful second-half performance to claim a 30–16 victory over the Tweed Seagulls in their Women in League Round clash at Totally Workwear Stadium. On a day celebrating the contribution of women to rugby league, the Tigers overcame an early deficit before storming home with four unanswered tries after the break.
The Seagulls struck first through Linneke Gevers in the 6th minute, before Courtney Robinson sparked the Tigers into life with a weaving run to the line. Tweed hit back via Niall Williams-Guthrie, but a barnstorming effort from Titans Player Estanoa Faitala-Mariner and a long-range try to India Seeto gave Brisbane a 20–10 advantage heading into the sheds.
Tweed narrowed the gap early in the second half when Paige Turner-Rau sliced through the middle, but from there, the Tigers took control. Centre Aleksandra Tunufai was the difference-maker, breaking the line twice in quick succession to score back-to-back tries. Despite some late handling errors from both sides, Brisbane’s defence held firm, keeping the Seagulls scoreless for the final 25 minutes.
It was a fitting result on a day that saw the Tigers don striking pink Women in League socks and the BMD Premiership Indigenous Jerseys, playing with pride and intent to honour the women who help shape the game at all levels.
