The Brisbane Tigers are pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Lenihan as the club’s new Head Coach, commencing before the 2026 pre-season.
Lenihan joins the Tigers with a wealth of experience across both the NRL and Queensland Cup systems, bringing proven success as both a mentor and a leader.
For the past 5 years, Lenihan has served as an Assistant Coach with the Gold Coast Titans (2020–2025), working at the elite level to help shape and develop NRL talent. Prior to his time at the Titans, he established himself as one of the most respected coaches in the Hostplus Cup during his tenure with the Burleigh Bears (2015–2019).
Under his guidance, the Bears claimed two Queensland Cup Premierships in 2016 and 2019, highlighting his ability to build resilient, competitive teams capable of performing on the big stage.
Brisbane Tigers CEO Mitch Cook said the club is excited to welcome Lenihan to Totally Workwear Stadium.
“We are delighted to welcome James Lenihan to the Brisbane Tigers as our new Hostplus Cup Head Coach. Jim impressed the selection panel with his vision, leadership and proven track record at both the Burleigh Bears and Gold Coast Titans. His experience in building premiership-winning teams and developing players makes him an outstanding fit for our Club. We are confident Jim will continue to strengthen our program, nurture talent through our pathways, and drive success on and off the field.”
Lenihan said he was thrilled to take on the role with the Tigers.
“This is a fantastic opportunity, and I’m really excited to work with the Tigers. They have always had a strong history of producing quality players, and I’m looking forward to building on that foundation while driving the team towards sustained success.”
Jim Lenihan will officially commence his role as Head Coach of the Brisbane Tigers in the coming weeks, preparing his squad for the 2026 season.
