Tigers Roar Back into Form with Dominant Win Over Tweed Heads
The Brisbane Tigers have climbed into 10th place on the ladder after a dominant and much-needed victory over the Tweed Head Seagulls at Piggabeen Sports Complex last Saturday.
The Tigers set the tone early, taking control in the first half. Kane Bradley opened the scoring with a sensational try in the left corner, narrowly staying in play after receiving a perfectly timed pass from Josh Smith. Just minutes later, Saimone Ahomana powered through Tweed’s defence to score in the right-hand corner, putting the Tigers firmly in control.
In the 19th minute, Josh Smith added to the tally following a brilliant 40/20 kick by Ryley Jacks. Smith raced ahead, claimed the bouncing ball at the 10-metre line, and sprinted to the try line untouched.
Tony Thompson crossed in the 29th minute after a strong charge from Sylvester Namo moved the Tigers deep into Seagulls territory. Tahj Wood provided the final pass to set up the try, extending Brisbane’s lead.
At the halftime break, the Tigers held a commanding 20–6 lead, dominating the opening 40 minutes in both attack and defence.
The second half saw more of the same. Bradley and Smith both added second tries to their name, while Sylvester Namo barged over the line with a powerhouse run through Tweed’s defence. Brisbane continued to control the game, shutting down majority of the comeback attempts and sealing the win.
It was a well-earned result for the Tigers in Round 10, a crucial victory that keeps their finals hopes alive.
The Tigers return home for Round 12 on June 8th, where they’ll take on the Norths Devils.
