Joe Stimson Departs Brisbane Tigers for Super League

By June 23, 2025No Comments

The Brisbane Tigers can confirm that forward Joe Stimson has departed the club to take up an opportunity with the Castleford Tigers in the Betfred Super League.

Stimson joined the Tigers ahead of the 2025 season and quickly became a respected leader both on and off the field. A seasoned NRL campaigner, his professionalism, work ethic and personality made a strong impression during his time with the Brisbane Tigers.

Head Coach Matt Church praised the departing back-rower, highlighting the significant role he played within the club environment.

“Stimo had a great impact on our playing group and staff. He led by consistent action, and when he spoke everyone listened. He shared knowledge with younger players and cared for our team and our club. Outside of his contribution on the field, he is also a character to have around – quick-witted and often puzzling you with ‘quirky’ scenarios. While we will miss him around here, we are also excited for his next step and wish him well in the Super League.”

Stimson now heads to the UK to link up with Castleford Tigers, bringing his experience and versatility to the English competition.

Reflecting on his time at Brisbane, Stimson expressed his gratitude to the club and supporters.

“I loved every minute at the Brisbane Tigers. I thank everyone for making me feel so welcome from the very first day. It’s a great club and I wish it nothing but success.”

Everyone at the Brisbane Tigers congratulates Joe on this exciting new chapter in his career and thanks him for his outstanding contribution to the club. We look forward to following his journey in the Betfred Super League.
