Brisbane Tigers have claimed a 22–12 victory over the Norths Devils at Totally Workwear Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After a tough outing against the Jets, the Tigers were keen to get back to winning football, and for long stretches of the evening they did exactly that, running in four second-half tries to put the result beyond doubt.

The Devils made a lively start, with Kane Rushton crossing twice in the opening 18 minutes to give Norths a four-point lead at the break. The winger was a handful all afternoon, finishing with 120 run metres alongside his brace.

Brisbane steadied through Kea Pere in the 23rd minute, keeping the deficit to just one try heading into the sheds and remaining very much in the contest.

The second half was a different story. Esom Ioka crossed shortly after the restart to level the scores, and from there Brisbane took control and did not look back.

Leon Te Hau extended the lead in the 48th minute before fullback Zac Miles got himself on the scoresheet in the 60th. The fullback was the Tigers’ standout all evening, finishing with a game-high 163 run metres and 4 tackle breaks to go with his try.

Jackson Chang sealed it in the 67th, with Zack Lamont’s conversion pushing the margin out to 10 points.

Norths grabbed a consolation through Zak Taibi in the 71st, but the Tigers held firm to seal a deserved 22–12 win and get their season back on track.

In the engine room, Jacob Sykes led the way for Brisbane with 34 tackles and 117 run metres, while Clay Webb was the standout second-rower on the park with 162 run metres, 78 post contact. For the Devils, captain Kierran Moseley matching Sykes’ tackle count across 68 minutes of football.

The Tigers will look to build on the result in Round 5, where they verse the PNG Hunters at Home on the 12th April.
