Tigers and Seagulls to honour Paul Green with new match medal

The Brisbane Tigers and Wynnum Manly Seagulls are proud to announce the introduction of the Paul Green Medal in their Hostplus Cup round 22 clash.

Paul Green joined the Tigers in 1991 and played halfback in the 1993 grand final side before being awarded the Rothman’s Medal in 1993 for the BRL Competition’s Best and Fairest.

He joined the Cronulla Sharks in 1994 and went on to play 162 NRL games for the Sharks, Cowboys, Eels, Roosters and Broncos.

His representative career included 10 matches for Queensland and two games for Australia.

Paul coached 167 NRL games, winning the Premiership with the Cowboys in 2015.

Paul was also an instrumental figure in the Seagulls last great period of success, coaching their 2011 and 2012 premiership teams.

On 20 August our Hostplus Cup teams will face off, with the Player of the Match awarded the Paul Green Medal.

This will be a huge day of celebration and fundraising at BMD Kougari Oval, with a Wynnum Manly vs Easts legends match to take place before the Cup kick off.

Running in tandem with the Hastings Deering Colts game, the Seagulls will host a fundraiser lunch inside their leagues club with the profit split between the Australian Sports Brain Bank, who focus on research into CTE, and the Seagulls Foundation.

For those who cannot get to the ground, the Hostplus Cup match will be broadcast on Kayo Freebies, 9Now and QPlus.tv for free at 2.10pm.
