Vale Peter Rafter

The Suzuki Brisbane Tigers send our heartfelt condolences to Tom Rafter and his family, following the passing of his father Peter.

“Really sad news this morning of the passing of Peter Rafter. That makes two great men from the QRL in the last few weeks who worked hard for the game and the people in it.

We pass on our condolences and support to Peter’s family. Of course that includes his son and our premiership winning backrower Tommy. I first coached Tommy some years ago and was in introduced to Pete and his mum, Bec, at that time.

Tommy was one player I was keen on bringing to the Tigers, due to his competitive nature and the type of person who he is. Which a testament to his parents and family. Having spent time with Pete, it’s not hard to see where Tommy gets this from.

Pete’s presence in Rugby League is huge and you’d struggle to find someone who didn’t enjoy his company. The Rafter family are also dearly loved in the Bribie Island community.

On behalf of the Brisbane Tigers players, coaching staff and club as a whole, we pass on our love and support to Bec, their children and the many people who call Pete a mate.

Rest in Peace, mate.” – Matt Church, Head Coach of the Hostplus Cup side
