A preview from Suzuki Brisbane Tigers’ Hostplus Cup coach Matt Church:

Norths are a back-to-back premiership team. It might not look like it on the ladder but we know that they are a quality football side, and it had to start to click for them which has happened over the last couple of weeks.

We are looking forward to the contest knowing that we are coming against a really strong side.

For us, it is more about learning and understanding each other and how we fit together as a group.

I think we have got the game plans relatively where we need them to be but individual relationships have taken time to click, but we are starting to get there. We saw some really good progress last week.

I have been really impressed by Charlie Murray over the last few weeks. I knew we were recruiting a quality person and he stepped up last week in the absence of Tristan Hope and got Man of the Match.

He has been ultra competitive at training and very professional for a very young guy. It is good to see that he got acknowledged on the weekend, and over the last couple of weeks, because he has been outstanding.”

A preview from Suzuki Brisbane Tigers’ Hastings Deering Cup coach Mark Gliddon:

Norths’ have won their last two so I think they are going to be nice and competitive, and it is at Bishop Park and they are always quite hard to beat over there.

We have got a really bad habit of missing one-on-one tackles at the moment. We missed forty-odd tackles last week, which is just not good enough at Colts level of football. So we just need to improve defensively and it should go close to getting us a result.

If we can get the two points going into a bye, it is like a double bubble. It is four points to us and then we get a week off, so that is what we are most looking forward to.

Lachlan West and Jordan Penquitt have been outstanding for us over the last couple of weeks. This is their third year of Colts and both of them have taken a real leadership role at the moment, in particular Lachlan West.

I am really pleased with the way he is going and he is showing glimpses of form that hopefully is gonna get him a Hostplus Cup contract for next year.”
