Mabel Park State High School signs partnership with the Tigers

The Suzuki Brisbane Tigers are delighted to announce a partnership with Mabel Park State High School (MPSHS) for the next three years until December 31, 2024.

The Logan City based high school caters for 1,600 students and currently runs a highly successful Rugby League Academy of Excellence Program.

The program aims to provide students with unparalleled opportunities to develop their sporting ability towards the elite level and to successfully develop each student to reach their full potential.

The partnership which commences on January 1, 2022 will include but not limited to:
• An annual sponsorship from Suzuki Brisbane Tigers towards the MPSHS Rugby League Program;
• Suzuki Brisbane Tigers Coaching Staff to assist with the delivery of education sessions and host the MPSHS Head of Rugby League during the preseason period;
• Commitment for MPSHS to host competition games at Langlands Park in the 2023-2024 years; and
• Establishment of the Brisbane Tigers Year 6 Gala Day Cup in conjunction with the MPSHS Rugby League Excellence Program.

Brisbane Tigers CEO, Brian Torpy said “We are excited to partner with the Mabel Park State High School and look forward to assisting the school with the delivery of their Rugby League Excellence Program”.

“The Suzuki Brisbane Tigers have previously sponsored the Schools Girl’s Program, but we are delighted to extend our partnership to the Boys Program.

“As part of our agreement, our Hostplus Cup Head Coach Jon Buchanan and our Pathways Development Manager Mark Gliddon, will work closely with Ben (Weston) and the staff in delivering the program.

“We are certainly looking forward to seeing the school playing in their respective competitions at our redeveloped Langlands Park”, he added.

MPSHS Rugby League Excellence Program Head Coach, Ben Weston is extremely excited to join forces with the Tigers.

“We are very excited to build a partnership with such a renowned club.

“The Tigers provide a pathway for our students to develop as rugby league players both on and off the field. Our coaches and players are always looking for ways to improve and the Tigers have given us an opportunity to learn from some of the best in the game”, he added.

This partnership will provide players with the opportunity to play for the Tigers through the ranks of Cyril Connell Challenge, Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup, Harvey Norman Under 19’s, Hastings Deering Colts, QRLW and the Hostplus Cup.

MPSHS students who are current squad members at the Suzuki Brisbane Tigers are: Glen Fisher – Hastings Deering Colts; Delilah Eliu, Shaylee Joseph, Tahliya Tavita – Harvey Norman Under 19’s; Julian Drinnan, Maika Poese, Joe Tupi, Steven Walsh – Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup; Kael Chilcott, George Geno, Wiremu Keelan – Cyril Connell Challenge.
