Tigers sign BJ Aufaga-Toomaga for 2022

Sunshine Coast Falcons centre Bessie ‘BJ’ Aufaga-Toomaga will join the Suzuki Brisbane Tigers for the 2022 season.

The St George Illawarra Dragons junior was a member of the Falcons Intrust Super Cup side for the past season after earning a Melbourne Storm preseason.

In 2021, he scored 5 tries, had 1 try assists, 19 tackle breaks and 2 line breaks from 12 games.

Known for his explosive footwork, the Samoan born representative finished his 2021 season with a standout performance for Rugby League Samoa Queensland in their Queensland Pacific Island Cultural Carnival campaign winning the Open Men’s tournament.

Speaking of his move to the Tigers, BJ said “I’ve had a few mates play here for the Tigers like Az (Aaron Pene) who spent the past three seasons with the Storm, and they’ve only said good things about the club.

“I’ve always known the Tigers to be a very a good club and I’m super pumped to stay within the Melbourne Storm system”, he added.

Speaking of his 2022 season aspirations, BJ said “I just want to be able to play consistent footy and work really hard on my defense. Ultimately I want to have a good year”.
