Former Junior Kiwi Darius Farmer to join the Tigers

Former junior Kiwis prop Darius Farmer will join the Suzuki Brisbane Tigers for the 2022 season.

Farmer, 22, has been a member of the Gold Coast Titans system since the age of 14. He represented both Titans feeder clubs Burleigh Bears and Tweed Seagulls in the Intrust Super Cup since his debut in 2018.

In 2021, he scored 2 tries, 18 tackle breaks, 387 post contact metres and 14 offloads from 15 games.

Speaking of his move to the Tigers, the NZ born junior said “I’ve always known the Tigers to be a very a good club especially playing against them in previous years.

“Every time I’ve come up against them (Tigers), they’ve always been a hardworking team.

“I had the opportunity to come here and i’ve had a few mates that have played here and they’ve all only said good things. I can’t wait to try new things here”, he added.

Speaking of his 2022 season aspirations, Farmer said “I want to be able to hold myself a bit higher and improve on my fitness and game fatigue”.

“I know it’s a massive achievement to be able to play Cup but even to play good Cup games”.

Farmer will join Bacho Salam, Tony Pellow and Will Samuel for Melbourne Storm’s pre-season as a part of the club’s feeder club allocation and he is relishing in the opportunity given to him.

“Melbourne have been a winning top-8 eight team for as long as I know and I know the experience will help me improve myself as a player. That will go a long way for me,” he added.

Welcome to the Tigers family Farms!
