Tigers confirm changes to 2022 home game venues

The Suzuki Brisbane Tigers have today confirmed they will play their Round 4 and 5 Hostplus Cup home games at Villanova Park, Tingalpa.

The venue change is necessary due to the redevelopment of Totally Workwear Stadium, Langlands Park.

Tigers CEO Brian Torpy said “the redevelopment had commenced and the buildings and structures on the western side of the grounds (with the exception of the current home change rooms) will be demolished, including the grandstands.

“The first stage of the redevelopment has commenced and will be completed by mid-December, which will include new players change rooms, match officials change room, medical room, canteen, merchandise outlet, toilets, coaches’ boxes, media boxes, corporate suites, administration offices, and spectator seating.

“Temporary seating, toilets and canteen will be in place for the Tigers Round 13 Hostplus Cup fixture against the Redcliffe Dolphins on Saturday 2 July, which will also be the date of the all-Club re-union.

“The Club enjoys a great relationship with Villanova College, and we are grateful to Principal Paul Begg and the College to allow us to host Hostplus Cup fixtures at Villanova Park.

“The Tigers would like to also thank the Carina Tigers, who have assisted in hosting a number of our junior representative games at Leo Williams Oval, and to the Rochedale Tigers who will host the Club’s BMD Premiership home fixtures.

“Rochedale Tigers recently constructed female participation compliant change rooms at their home grounds at Underwood Park and are hoping to be given a green light from Rugby League Brisbane to be an approved female participation club in the near future.

“It is important for the development of the female game that a club such as the Rochedale Tigers are able to field female teams. Rochedale Tigers are based at the northern end of Logan City, which is a great nursery for rugby league players, so there is a perfect opportunity to get more females playing our great game in these areas.

“The female game is growing and it is vital we support the participants with appropriate training and playing facilities”, Torpy added.
