VALE ADAM MAHER

The Tigers offer their sincere condolences to the family and friends of former first grade player Adam Maher who lost his long battle with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) yesterday.

A tough backrower, Maher joined the Tigers from Wynnum Manly Seagull in 1991 and made his debut in the same season.

Tiger #908, Maher left the Tigers following the 1993 Grand Final, along with Coach John Lang and fellow Tiger team mates Paul Green, Geoff Bell and Andrew Neave to join the Cronulla Sharks.

Maher played 43 games for the Sharks before heading to the UK.

Maher was a popular player at Gateshead in 1999 and then at Hull FC from 2000-2003, where he made over 100 appearances for the ‘black and whites’ and became a crowd favourite.

Maher is survived by his wife Trudy and their five children.

Adam’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 3 at Wynnum Baptist Church, 287 Kianawah Rd, Wynnum West at 12:30pm.

A wake will follow at Wynnum Manly.
