The Easts Tigers Holcim Cup side’s 2020 season officially closed on Saturday night with the presentation for the season.

Flying the Easts Tigers banner alone this season following the cancellation of all QRL major Competitions including the Intrust Super Cup earlier in the year, the presentation saw Tigers executives alongside the women’s squad descend upon Easts Leagues Club to celebrate season 2020.

Despite a winless season, there were several positives to draw from the season with the presentation a culmination of their efforts for the recently finished season.

Exciting fullback Keisha-Leigh Coolwell claimed the best back for the Tigers after the 20-year-old registered an impressive season in gold and black.

Claiming the best forward was 19-year-old lock forward Jessikah Reeves who despite her young age had a phenomenal season in the forward pack.

Reeves outstanding 2020 campaign saw the exciting youngster rewarded with a Brisbane Broncos NRLW contract.
Tigers head coach Duane Rehua said Reeves would be a player to watch for the future.

“I think Jessikah will be a name to look out for next season. She was awarded a Broncos contract for the 2020 NRLW, but unfortunately had to withdraw through injury,” Rehua said.

Rehua was proud of the professionalism of his young side throughout the whole season and looks forward to seeing the development of the group in coming years.

“The most impressive part for me was the manner in which the young under 18’s stepped up against some of the best players in the game and showed they will be future stars of the women’s game”

Rehua announced at the presentation that this season would be his last as head coach after being with the club for four years
When asked about his biggest highlight as head coach of the Tigers he spoke of the development of the team over the four years as his favourite.
“I think making the semi’s in our inaugural year and the next two after that as well as watching those same players grow and develop into a team that on our day could and did beat anyone would be my biggest highlight” Rehua said.

Brisbane Tigers CEO Brian Torpy said that Rehua was a great asset to the club in his time as head coach.

“Duane’s contribution to the team over the past four seasons cannot be understated. He has been responsible for laying the foundation of the women’s game at the Tigers”, Torpy added.

The Club wishes to thank Duane for his efforts as Head Coach for the past four seasons and wishes him the best moving forward.
The Tigers expect to announce the Club’s new Women’s coach in the coming weeks.
