The Brisbane Tigers will welcome the services of former Redcliffe prop forward Jordan Grant to the club in 2021.

Tiger blood runs through Grant with the prop formerly a part of the West Tigers system at an Under 20 level before featuring for the club at NSW Cup level before moving to Queensland in 2018.

Grant has been a workhorse in the Intrust Super cup competition over the past two seasons averaging 145 running metres and 25 tackles a game during his tenure in the competition.

Performances like these have seen Grant feature in the Intrust Super Cup team of the year in his debut season in 2018 with the Mackay Cutters as well as 2019 with the Redcliffe Dolphins.

Grant said the club’s history and reputation for developing elite players was a big drawcard for the forward.

“Easts were one of the first clubs in the Brisbane competition and a lot of great players have come through the grades. To be a part of that now is exciting and I’m very grateful to get an opportunity to play here and represent this club.”

“The club produces good players so that’s something I want to be around to help my game get to another level.” Grant said.

Grant will join the Melbourne Storm for a preseason in 2021 with the recruit keen to get involved in a club known for its tough culture.

The prop says he is ready for the challenge and is a reward for his development as both a player and a person.

“Four to five years ago I wasn’t in the right mindset and the Storm are known for their tough pre-seasons, I would of cracked”

“I feel this is all the right timing and I’m looking forward to the challenge.” Grant said.

Brisbane Tigers head coach Jon Buchanan says Grant’s opportunity with the Storm in the preseason will reap benefits for both Grant and the club in the long run.

“The preseason for Jordan in Melbourne will put him in an environment that will challenge him physically and mentally and I am sure the Tigers will benefit from it when he returns” Buchanan said.

Buchanan says the signing of a player of Grant’s calibre is exciting for the club and has impressed since beginning training with the Tigers.

“Jordan has been one of the premier front rowers in the Intrust Super Cup over the past couple of years. He is big, mobile and he has really impressed our staff with how naturally fit he is.” Buchanan said.
