Tigers Roar Louder than the Wind

Gale force winds at Tapout Energy Stadium didn’t stop the crowds showing up on Sunday to see the Easts Tigers beat the Normanby Hounds 58-14.

The Tigers bounced back from last week’s loss by sending the last placed Hounds back to the kennel to hold onto 4th spot on the ladder.

The floodgates opened up for the Tigers in the 14th minute after some fancy footwork from fullback, Brandon Downey, helped the tigers out to a 6-0 lead.

Jayden Carroll found the line minutes later to bring the score to 10-0 after finding space down the left edge and burning the defence in a footrace before fending the last defender.

The weather showed took its toll on both teams with the Hounds putting the ball out on the full off the kick off while the Tigers failed to find touch on two ensuing penalties.

Impressive work from the Tigers fowards including some devastating runs from Brandon George helped take the team into half time with the score at 22-0.

No energy was lost at half time with the Tigers scoring easily in the second half which was helped by the Hounds inability to complete sets.

Penalties and errors plagued the Normanby side as the Tigers sped out to a 46-0 lead.

The Hounds did not complete a set in the second half until they scored their first try of the game which was followed soon after by another two.

The 44 points difference should signal a warning to the Dolphins as they head to Tapout Energy Stadium on Sunday in a play off for 4th place.
